Serving Locally

The Hungry

FOOD DRIVES

Each year, Heritage conducts a food drive to help The Bridge, our community center on the west side. The Bridge works with refugees and the homeless, and weekly opens up for a soup kitchen and access to their food pantry. The Bridge food drive regularly happens in June. Learn more about the Bridge at theBridge.io.

YWCA FAMILY CENTER

Each month, a team from Heritage prepares and serves breakfast for homeless families facing a housing crisis. Since young people are welcome to serve alongside their parents, this is a great opportunity for families to serve together. For more details, email Tracie Bayer or call 614-638-7713.

WARM

Westerville Area Resource Ministry (WARM) is a local food pantry which also offers short term assistance, educational services, employment services, and spiritual support. WARM offers a variety of ways to serve throughout the year. To learn more or volunteer, please visit the WARM website and click on the Volunteer tab.

LIFELINE MEAL PACK

Tuesdays-Saturdays, 8:30am-8:30pm
This year’s Lifeline meal packs will look a little different. Individuals, families, or life groups will meet at Lifeline Christian Mission, right here in Westerville, so they can be done according the current CDC guidelines. Meal packs are ongoing. There is a suggested donation of $10/person to help cover the cost of food and shipping.

The Marginalized

KINDWAY EMBARK

Embark is a re-entry assistance program for men and women that must navigate their way from incarceration to independence. Members receive spiritual support and guidance prior to release and after they return to the community. Visit Kindway’s Website for ways you can get connected or contact Debbi Roberts.

STAR HOUSE

Homeless youth are one of Central Ohio’s hidden populations. Star House is working to integrate them back into the community. Star House operates a 24-hour drop-in center which provides safe respite from the streets and offers the youth a chance for a productive life. Serve at Star House and make a difference in future generations.

Children and Families

BACK TO SCHOOL DRIVE

Our annual back to school drive benefits less privileged children in some of Westerville’s elementary schools. We send a supply list home with you, and ask you to help get the teachers most requested items to bring back, and load backpacks to support children in need as they begin a new school year. For more details, email LoveYourNeighbor@heritagecc.org.

BOTTLES FOR LIFE DRIVE

Each year, from Mother’s Day to Father’s Day weekend, we collect spare change to donate to Pregnancy Decision Health Center (PDHC) so they can help women and families in central Ohio during and after pregnancy, especially those facing unexpected or challenging pregnancies.

READING BUDDIES AT POINTVIEW

You’re invited to join other Heritage volunteers who are participating in the Reading Buddy Program at Pointview Elementary. This is an easy and wonderful way to serve within the community spending time with children as Jesus did. To get involved, contact Zoe Hafner, 614-898-9412 x321, or zhafner@heritagecc.org.
